Volunteer Opportunities

Want to contribute to your community? Want to make a positive change in our neighborhoods and the environment?

YOU CAN! The Park People offers many opportunities to get involved. Take on a leadership role or serve as support… Shape our efforts as part of a strategic committee… Get involved in Denver Digs Trees, our flagship tree distribution, planting, and stewardship program…

Listed below are some of our regular positions. We invite you to bring your talents, skills, and creativity – we likely have a role for you, and we'd love to help you find a match for your interests!

We encourage you to complete and submit our Volunteer Application and let us know how you'd like to get involved. You may also contact Program Manager Kim Yuan-Farrell at 303-722-6262 or kim@theparkpeople.org.

We look forward to having you join our wonderful team of volunteers who make our work possible!

Tree Planters - Engage in the powerful act of planting a young tree in our urban soils. You can transform a barren space into a lush streetscape filled with social, environmental, and economic benefits. Lifting and physical activity involved. Training will be provided.

Neighborhood Ambassadors - Share your excitement about trees with your neighbors or other Denver residents. Canvass the neighborhood to alert residents about our free and low-cost yard and street trees. Table at fairs and festivals or speak at neighborhood meetings to teach others the many benefits offered by trees.

Tree Wranglers - Help herd hundreds of our woody friends when they arrive by truck for our big distribution events! You'll learn proper tree handling techniques and help prepare these young trees for adoption in their new Denver homes. This position involves lifting.

Community Foresters - Become a knowledgeable steward of Denver's urban forest. You'll learn proper tree care from Denver's experts and hone your skills in stewardship projects throughout the city.

Site Inspectors - Visit potential planting sites to assess residents' space qualifications for trees and recommend best planting locations. Training will be provided.

Tree Distribution Site Workers - We need both leadership and support for our two big, exciting tree distribution events each April and October. There's something for everyone! Take charge of one of our distribution sites as a Site Coordinator or serve as a traffic controller, cashier, mulch bagger, and much more!

Administrative Assistants - Provide crucial support at our office, processing applications for our large tree distributions, interfacing with members of the public, helping us with data entry, mailings, and more.
